The Minnesota Timberwolves are finalizing a contract buyout with guard Andre Miller, clearing the way for him to sign with a playoff contender, agent Andy Miller told The Vertical.
Miller, 39, is on a one-year, $1.4 million deal and must clear waivers to become a free agent. Teams with salary-cap room and roster space could claim Miller, but it is most likely that he’ll clear waivers and become a free agent.
As long as Miller’s buyout is completed by March 1, Miller will be eligible to be added to his next team’s playoff roster.
Miller is playing in his 17th NBA season and remains a valued backup point guard. He’s averaged 10.8 minutes a game for the Wolves this season, including 3.4 points and 2.2 assists. He’s also shooting 62 percent from the field.
For his career, Miller has averaged 12.6 points and 6.6 assists.
