Johnny Manziel's domestic violence assault case sent to grand jury

Johnny Manziel's domestic violence assault case will be presented to a grand jury, the Dallas Police Department announced on Thursday evening.

Here is the full statement from the DPD:
The investigation of the domestic violence assault involving Jonathan Manziel, which occurred on January 30, 2016, has been completed. Today, a Class A misdemeanor Assault/Domestic Violence case has been referred to the Dallas County District Attorney’s office for presentation to the grand jury. The Dallas Police Department will not release any details of the investigation while it is pending grand jury presentation.
On Jan. 30, Manziel had what police described as an "altercation" with his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley. Initially Crowley was unwilling to fill out a statement or make a report, and authorities said the case was closed. Then Crowley said she wanted the district attorney to pursue charges.
According to police reports, Crowley said Manziel dragged her into a car and struck her. Her affidavit said she lost hearing in her left ear as a result of Manziel striking her, via the Associated Press. Crowley said Manziel told her "shut up or I'll kill us both," WFAA reported. Crowley said Manziel struck her many times that night. A protective order for Manziel to stay away from Crowley for two years was issued.
Manziel was a Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M and drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. His entire NFL career has been overshadowed by off-field issues, and the Browns have made it clear they plan to release him when the new league year starts on March 9.
