Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was arrested Sunday for the fifth time in 17 months and the third time since being dropped by the NFL team in November.
Police apprehended Randle in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas, on three charges of aggravated battery, one count of drug possession and one count of criminal property damage.
The Cowboys dropped Randle reportedly in part for his involvement in sport gambling, an allegation Randle has denied.
On February 1, Randle was arrested on a speeding charge after showing up at the home of an ex-girlfriend near Dallas, taken into custody after an outstanding misdemeanor warrant was discovered.
Last November, Randle was arrested following an altercation at a Kansas casino on charges of assault of a law enforcement officer, battery, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and interference with a law enforcement officer.
The NFL investigated an arrest last February in Wichita over a domestic disturbance complaint. Police did not press charges but the probe showed Randle, 24, violated league policy and he was suspended for four games by the NFL last November 10, a week after the Cowboys had released him.
In October of 2014, Randle was in legal trouble related to a shoplifting arrest for stealing underwear and cologne.
Randle ran for 315 yards and four touchdowns on 76 carries over six games for Dallas last season and made 10 catches for 86 yards. Since joining the Cowboys in 2013, Randle has run for 822 yards and nine touchdowns.
