Pat Haden, USC's athletic director, transported to hospital by paramedics

USC Athletic Director Pat Haden was attended to by paramedics and transported to L.A. County-USC Medical Center by ambulance Wednesday morning after feeling lightheaded while on campus.
Haden had been discharged when The Times checked with the hospital shortly after 2 in the afternoon.
Haden, 63, announced Friday that he would retire as athletic director in June. Haden, who has a pacemaker, required medical attention in October on the sideline at Notre Dame Stadium. He was absent from seven of the Trojans' final eight football games.
Tim Tessalone, USC’s sports information director, said Haden was walking to Heritage Hall after attending a meeting on campus when he fell ill.
Medical personnel were called and they arrived and attended to Haden, who walked upstairs to his office, Tessalone said. Haden continued to be evaluated and was eventually taken to the hospital, Tessalone said.
“He was alert and talking,” Tessalone said.
