1. The rivalry between BYU and Utah was already plenty heated, but after Wednesday's welcome dinner and dance-off, the teams' upcoming matchup in Saturday's Las Vegas Bowl is likely to be even testier. After a brawl with Memphis in their bowl game last year, and a couple controversial incidents this season, BYU has developed a bit of a reputation for chippy play. With those factors in mind, Utes defensive lineman Viliseni Fauonuku took the stage at the event and called out the Cougars for being a "dirty team." The statement was met with cheers from his teammates and boos from their eventual opponent, but despite the mixed reaction, one thing's for certain: There will be no love lost when these teams meet on Saturday.
2. From two teams with no love for each other to a player who is actively spreading the love, DeMarcus Cousins recently delivered some holiday cheer to a family in need. The Kings center gave the gift of a new car to a local couple and the reaction of the recipients, Selena Pina and Maurice Williams, has a tear-inducing level of emotional horsepower. For Cousins, a guy known more for scoring than passing, that was one big assist.
3. Finally, another instance of the Christmas spirit in professional sports as the Washington Capitals recreate a holiday classic. Alex Ovechkin and company dressed up in spot-on outfits to produce a spoof of 'A Christmas Story,' with Ovie completely inhabiting the character of Ralphie, pink bunny suit and all. The result is nearly as satisfying as receiving a Red Ryder carbine-action, two hundred shot Range Model air rifle on Christmas morning.
