Patriots' Tom Brady edges Panthers' Cam Newton in Pro Bowl fan voting

The NFL released the results of online fan voting for the Pro Bowl, and the two players getting the most discussion for the league's most valuable player award were also the top two vote-getters: Tom Brady and Cam Newton.
Brady, who has led the New England Patriots to four Super Bowl wins in his career, finished with 701,554 votes, winning the overall vote by less than 500 votes; Newton, who has led the Carolina Pantthers to a 13-0 start, finished with 701,086.
The pair garnered a great deal more support than the other players in the top five vote-getters, all quarterbacks: the Cincinnati Bengals' Andy Dalton (525,638), the Arizona Cardinals' Carson Palmer (514,967) and the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers (510,374). Patriots' tight end Rob Gronkowski was the got the most votes among non-quarterbacks, with 509,251.
The fan vote represents one-third of the total balloting: the choices of players and coaches, who vote on Friday, also each count for one-third.
Here are the top vote-getters at each position; the Patriots led the way with eight total players atop their respective position.
