Ole Miss QB DeVante Kincade says he's transferring

After spending the season behind Chad Kelly and Ryan Buchanan on the Ole Miss depth chart, quarterback DeVante Kincade has decided to leave the program.
Kincade, who just finished his sophomore with the Rebels, shared the news Monday on his Instagram account.
“I just wanted to thank god and the university of Mississippi for the opportunity to get a education, chase my dream and grow as a man,” Kincade wrote.
In the Instagram post, Kincade expressed a desire to play closer to Texas where he can “take care” of his mother. Kincade is a native of Dallas.
Kincade played in three games for the Rebels this season, completing 9-of-15 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. He also had 87 rushing yards on nine attempts.
Kincade battled with Kelly and Buchanan for the starting job during preseason camp, but lost out to Kelly, a heralded junior college transfer who began his career at Clemson.
Kelly has one more season of eligibility remaining. Class of 2016 quarterback recruit Shea Patterson has also signed a financial aid agreement with Ole Miss and will reportedly enroll in January. Patterson has a five-star rating from Rivals.com and is considered to be third-best prospect in the country.
The Rebels went 9-3 this season and are scheduled to take on Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day.
