1921 - Otto Graham, AAFC/NFL QB (Cleveland Browns) is born.
1925 - Record 73,000 pay to watch Chic Bears beat NY Giants 19-7.
1955 - NY psychologist Joyce Brothers won "$64,000 Question" on boxing.
1955 - Honus Wagner, baseball player (b. 1874) dies.
1960 - AL grants Gene Autry a franchise, LA Angels.
1968 - Baseball dismisses Commissioner William Eckert after 3 years.
1970 - Cleveland Cavaliers first NBA home victory, beating Buffalo Braves 108-106.
1973 - NL votes to move San Diego Padres to Washington DC (doesn't happen).

and America's Cup sailing contests, killed by pirates on the Amazon River at age 53
2001 - Charles McClendon, Hall of Fame college football coach (b. 1923) dies.
