1932 - Robert Pettit, NBA star (St Louis Bombers/1959 MVP) is born.
1937 - Washington Redskins win NFL Championship.
1946 - Emerson Fittipaldi, Brazil, Indy-car racer (over 10 wins) is born.
1962 - Tracy Austin, Rolling Hills California, tennis pro (US Open 1979, 81) is born.
1965 - Gale Sayers of Chicago Bears scores 6 TDs, ties NFL record.
