1913 - John K. Tener become president of baseball's National League.
1926 - US Golf Association legalizes steel shaft golf clubs.
1931 - Baseball cuts squads from 25 to 23 players and the National League continues to prohibit uniform numbers.
1934 - NY Giants defeat Chicago Bears 30-13 for the NFL Championship.
1953 - Montreal Canadiens (106) and Toronto Maple Leafs (98) collect 204 penalty minutes.
1961 - Wilt Chamberlain of the NBA Philadelphia Warriors scores 67 points against New York.
1978 - Chicago Hustle against the Milwaukee Does is the first game for the new Women's Pro Basketball League (WBL).
1984 - LA Rams Eric Dickerson rushes for 215 yards en route to a season record record of 2,003 yards.
