1943 - MLB Commissioner Landis announces any baseball club may sign Negros.
1961 - Floyd Patterson KOs Tom McNeeley in the 4th Round for the Heavyweight boxing title.
1961 - Do to a snowstorm, the smallest crowd of 1,300 watch the NY Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
1964 - Baseball approves a free-agent draft.
1977 - Hollis Stacy and Jerry Pate win the Pepsi-Cola Mixed Team Golf Championship.
1977 - Cincinnati Bengals beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-7 in the 5,000th NFL game.
1988 - Baltimore Orioles trade veteran 1B Eddie Murray to the LA Dodgers.
1996 - Orlando Magic tie NBA record of fewest points scored since inception of 24 second clock losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers', 84-57.
1997 - NBA suspends Latrell Sprewell for 1 year for attacking his coach.
