THIS DAY IN SPORTS HISTORY - DECEMBER 13TH

1930 - George Sisler's career ends when the Boston Braves release him.
1936 -  Final Boston Redskins NFL game as they lose to the Packers 21-6 en route to Washington DC.
1942 - The Washington Redskins defeat the Chicago Bears 14-6 to win the NFL title.
1956 - Dodgers trade Jackie Robinson to the Giants for pitcher Dick Littlefield & $35,000, Robinson then retires.
1960 - Italy beats US in Davis Cup.  This is the first time in 24 years that the US is not in the finals.
1967 - United Soccer Association & National Pro Soccer League merge into the National American Soccer League, NASL.
1977 - Fourteen University of Evansville basketball players die in a plane crash.
1983 - Only 9,655 fans see the highest scoring NBA game as the Detroit Pistons defeat the Denver Nuggets, 186-184 in 3 OT.
1996 - Free agent Roger Clemens signs with the Toronto Blue Jays.
2007 - The Mitchell Report is publicly released listing the names of 89 Major League baseball players that have presumably used anabolic steroids and human growth hormones.  Notable players to be named include Roger Clemens and Miguel Tejada.
