Chyna J. Thomas, the younger sister of Celtics’ star Isaiah Thomas, died in a one-car crash on Interstate 5 in Tacoma, Washington on Saturday morning, Kiro7 reports. The crash occurred around 5 a.m.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Chyna Thomas, 22, died at the scene on the shoulder of I-5. State Patrol told Kiro7 that she was not wearing a seat belt.
State Patrol spokesman Nick King said that at first, the car was being driven normally but then it began to drift into the shoulder. Then, the vehicle went about 50 feet and hit a Jersey barrier. The 1998 Toyota Camry hit the sign-post head on.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver released a statement expressing condolences to the Thomas family:

The Celtics also made a statement on Twitter:

Isaiah Thomas and the Celtics are scheduled to take on the Chicago Bulls on Sunday in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
