The most notable release for the Green Bay Packers was cornerback Sam Shields who was with the team since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2010.
Shields is just two years removed from a Pro Bowl season, but suffered his fifth concussion last season and played in just one game, making one come to the conclusion that it was a pretty significant concussion.
Reports are that Shields will try to find a team to play with in 2017.
In 80 career games, Shields has 211 tackles and 18 interceptions.
The team also released running back James Starks.

The have cut RB James Starks, per the transaction wire. It's with a non-football injury designation. But going forward he's healthy
Starks has been with the team since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 Draft. In 76 career games, Starks has ran for 2,506 yards and nine touchdowns. His best season came in 2015 when he ran for 601 yards and averaged 4.1 yards per carry.
With Eddie Lacy being an unrestricted free agent, Green Bay’s backfield looks a little thin.
