Alabama may not have immediate spot for 4-star recruit who committed in Paris

Things got a bit awkward for four-star defensive end Jarez Parks on National Signing Day.
The defensive end from Sebastian, Florida, was set to announce he was heading to Alabama on Wednesday morning. But as Parks got emotional during his signing ceremony, he said his decision was being delayed.
According to Rivals.com, Alabama may not have had an immediate scholarship available for Parks at the time. The school was chasing after four-star defensive end Labryan Ray, who indeed signed with the Tide.
“The numbers are tight and Alabama will only have room for him if Ray goes elsewhere,” Rivals.com Andrew Bone said. “Sometimes the spots fill up fast and there are a lot of moving parts.”
If what happened at the signing ceremony didn’t make you feel bad enough for Parks, it got even more awkward when Bleacher Report released a video of his commitment to Alabama that was filmed in Paris.
He really wanted to go to Alabama, apparently. Approximately a half hour after the video was released, Rivals reported Parks will head to Alabama … in 2018.
Remember, recruiting can be a heartless business. Even when you’re the No. 118 player in the country. Parks could have been a star recruit for a majority of the programs in the country. But he’s heading to Alabama as a grayshirt. It’s good to be the Tide.
