Shawn Johnson, the Olympic gold-medalist gymnast and "Dancing With the Stars" competitor," threw out a first pitch at Friday's Chicago Cubs game. While celebrity first pitches can often awry, Johnson's ended quite memorably. With a proposal.
Johnson, 23, was joined by follow Team USA gymnast Alicia Sacramone for first-pitch duties, and when she walked back toward the dugout, her boyfriend Andrew East, dropped to one knee. East is a football long-snapper who recently signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Johnson, as you see below, said yes.
Here's some video:
It's not often we see public proposals involving celebrities. And certainly not at baseball games. We hope the happy couple asks Kris Bryant to officiate the union.
Now that we think of it, this public proposal thing might be a good idea for Justin Verlander. Word is that he's proposed to girlfriend (and model) Kate Upton multiple times only to be shot down.
Try a baseball field, dude.
