Adam Wainwright takes mound at daughter's softball game after pitching machine breaks

The pitching machine broke Monday night at an 8-and-under softball game, which wouldn't be spectacularly thrilling news if not for what happened next. St. Louis Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright, whose daughter plays one of the teams, came out from the stands and pitched.
Look who took to the bump last night against 8-U girls soft ballers?
No. 50, Adam Wainwright
Wainwright is out for the season with a torn Achilles in his left foot. His pitching arm, meanwhile, should go unaffected by some slow, underhanded tosses. Here's a photo taken by Greg Lazerwitz, who was umpiring.
When the picture started to circulate on Tuesday, Wainwright quipped on Twitter: "I told everyone I'd play again this year!"
