Luis Suarez started on the bench for Barcelona against Levante on Sunday as Pedro took over his spot in the front three, but the Uruguayan striker managed to steal the headlines anyway in a 5-0 blowout at Camp Nou that was dominated by Neymar and Lionel Messi.
Neymar opened the scoring in the 17th minute with his 17th league goal and Messi delivered the next three goals for his 23rd career hat trick in La Liga to tie Cristiano Ronaldo's all-time record for Spain's first division. But it was Suarez the substitute that ended up trending on Twitter.
Coming on for Neymar in the 67th minute, Suarez needed just six minutes to make his mark. He sprinted into the 18-yard box to meet Adriano's lofted cross and unleashed a spectacular overhead kick past helpless Levante goalkeeper Diego Marino.
Suarez, who had just two goals in his first 12 La Liga games, now has scored in consecutive matches for Luis Enrique's side. The former Liverpool star might be finally finding his stride in Spain, and that could be bad news for Real Madrid, which holds a slim one-point lead over Barcelona despite a three-month win streak.
