1934 - St. Louis Cardinals Paul Dean no-hits Brooklyn Dodgers, 3-0.
1955 - Rocky Marciano KOs Archie Moore in the 9th Round for the Heavyweight boxing title.
1964 - Cincinnati Reds Chico Ruiz steals home, beats Phillies 1-0.  Phillies start a 10 game losing streak that gives the Cardinals the pennant.
1969 - New York Jets Steve O'Neal punts 98 yards against the Denver Broncos.
1970 - Oakland A's Vida Blue no-hits the Minnesota Twins, 6-0.
1971 - The American League okay's the Washington Senators move to Arlington, Texas as the team will be renamed the Texas Rangers.
1981 - Steve Carlton strikes out Andre Dawson to capture his 3,118th career strikout for the NL record.
1986 - Miami Dolphins Dan Marino passes for 6 touchdowns defeating the New York Jets 51-45.
1990 - Faye Vincent turns down the Chicago White Sox bid to reinstate Minnie Minoso, 68.
2008 - The final game is played at Yankee Stadium against the Baltimore Orioles.
