The Washington Nationals brought postseason baseball back to the capital for the first time since 1933, clinching a playoff spot Thursday night with a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ross Detwiller's six dominant innings, an opportunistic offense and three innings of shutdown relief in front of 30,359 exalted fans witnessed the event. The Nationals ensured at least an NL wild-card spot with the win while their magic number to win the NL East was reduced to eight.
