Fellow All-Stars agree, David Ortiz is too good to retire at 40

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz is having an unbelievable season for a guy who is 40 years old and already announced he will retire at the end of the season. He has been so good, in fact, that pretty much nobody in the game believes he should be hanging it up.
That includes his fellow All-Stars.
The All-Stars converged on San Diego on Monday for the Home Run Derby and the All-Star game on Tuesday. When they met with the media many were asked about Ortiz, who is hitting .332/.426/.682 with 22 home runs and 72 RBI at the break.
While none of them believe he should retire, some still can’t believe he will actually go through with it. Hard to blame that line of thinking based on the gigantic season he is having.

Mike Trout says he doesn't believe David Ortiz is really going to retire, with the numbers he's putting uup.
It is the 15th consecutive season Ortiz has hit at least 20 home runs. Only Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth produced longer streaks in their careers. Ortiz is an All-Star for the 10th time in his career and he recently got a tattoo to commemorate the achievement.

David Ortiz got this tattoo on Wednesday to commemorate his 10th All-Star appearance.
Ortiz is one of the most popular players in the big leagues, the most popular if you’re judging strictly by jersey sales. He also was a man in demand during the media availability Monday for members of the American League squad.
