Looking like a lock to be the NFC North's basement dwellers just a couple of weeks ago, the Chicago Bears claimed their second straight win on Sunday thanks to two fourth-quarter touchdown passes from much-maligned quarterback Jay Cutler.
The Bears were down 17-3 at halftime and 17-6 after three quarters. But the Chiefs went three-and-out on their first three possessions in the fourth, unable to do anything to pad their lead.
With just under eight minutes to play, Cutler and the Bears began an 11-play, 88-yard touchdown drive that ended with a 22-yard touchdown to Marquess Wilson on third-and-6. Cutler had earlier kept the drive alive with a five-yard scramble on third-and-3.
On the second touchdown, the Bears caught a break when Chiefs' rookie Marcus Peters was called for pass interference on third down, a 24-yard penalty that gave Chicago a fresh set of downs from the Kansas City 13.
Cutler dropped the snap on the touchdown pass, but picked it up quickly and hit Matt Forte on the left sideline for the score. Though the 2-point attempt failed on both touchdowns, the Bears had done enough.
