Jets rookie linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin taken to hospital after neck injury

New York Jets v Detroit Lions
New York Jets rookie linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin was taken to the hospital after suffering a neck/head injury in the fourth quarter of his NFL debut Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Mauldin stayed down on the turf after a fumble by Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel and long return by Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. Mauldin was down for several minutes, until the cart came out for him. He was strapped down with his helmet still on, and CBS said on its broadcast that he was immediately taken to the hospital.
"He had his eyes closed. Very little movement," Jets safety and Mauldin's college teammate Calvin Pryor said, according to Kimberley Martin of New York Newsday. "I’m just praying all is well with him”
Martin reported that Mauldin was shaken up on the play, tried to get up and fell forward.
After the game, Jets coach Todd Bowles expressed his concern.
"I'm very worried about him," Bowles said after the game, according to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta. Mauldin battled through a hard upbringing to become a standout linebacker at Louisville and a third-round pick of the Jets. He spent time in 16 foster homes growing up after his mother and father both went to jail.
