Jets' Brandon Marshall makes 'worst play in NFL history'

Earlier this week, Brandon Marshall griped that he was one of the best receivers in the game and didn't get the recognition he thought he deserved. Careful what you wish for, sir, because you never know when recognition might be coming your way.
Midway through a devastating half of football, when the Jets were unable to get anything started and the Eagles were en route to rolling up 24 straight points on the vaunted Jets defense, Marshall decided to get cute. He apparently thought he'd play point guard and dish to a teammate while getting tackled:

This is why you don't see NFL players throwing the ball around like they're in the front yard playing Kill The Man With The Ball: there are so, so many ways it can go so horribly wrong. Marshall bounced the lateral off Connor Barwin's facemask. A few plays later, the Eagles scored to go up 24-0. Ouch.
Right after halftime, Marshall told Fox's Pam Oliver that his lateral was "the worst play in NFL history." He did catch a touchdown pass with six seconds remaining in the half, so there's that. But we'll always have The Lateral To The Face. It may not rival Buttfumble, but it'll go into Jets lore nonetheless.
