Devon Still's helmet-removing hit on Carson Palmer likely to draw fine

The Texans defensive lineman will likely be fined for a hit on Carson Palmer that knocked the Cardinals quarterback's helmet off.
Houston Texans defensive lineman Devon Still may face a from the NFL as a consequence for his hit on Carson Palmer during Sunday's preseason game at NRG Stadium.
After throwing a second-quarter interception, the Arizona Cardinals quarterback stumbled while attempting to make a tackle. Still attempted to block Palmer, who was defenseless while falling to the ground, and connected on an apparent helmet-to-helmet hit that dislodged Palmer's helmet and sent it flying.
Palmer appeared disoriented for a moment as he lay on the ground, but was able to walk to the sideline under his own power.
While there was no penalty on the play, Fox Sports commentator and former NFL officiating head Mike Pereira opined Still is "likely" to face a fine by the league.
Still, signed by the Texans this offseason, is competing for an NFL roster spot for the first time since his 5-year-old daughter Leah's Stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer went into remission a year ago. Their fight against the disease first gained national attention before the 2014 season when the Bengals cut Still, their second-round draft pick two years earlier, but offered him a spot on the team's practice squad so he would be able to keep the NFL's health insurance policy.
Still was cut again by the Bengals prior to last season and hasn't played in a regular-season game since 2014.
Texans linebacker John Simon, who returned Sunday's pick for a touchdown, and Seahawks rookie defensive tackle Jarran Reed each were fined $18,231 last week for their hits on quarterbacks this preseason, so Still likely would owe a similar amount.
