Free-agent guard Jamal Crawford has agreed to a three-year, $42 million deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told The Vertical.
Crawford had discussed one-year deals with several teams around the league, but focused on his negotiations with the Clippers, sources said. The third year of the deal is partially guaranteed.
Crawford, 36, is a three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year, providing a dynamic and consistent offensive threat for the Clippers in his past four seasons in L.A. He has been healthy over the course of his career, giving him the confidence that he could play into his 40s.
In 79 games last season, Crawford averaged 14.2 points and 2.3 assists per game.
After meeting with Kevin Durant on Friday, the Clippers moved toward retaining their own free agents over the weekend, reaching agreements with Crawford, Austin Rivers and Wesley Johnson. The organization has maintained its depth around Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
Crawford has averaged 15.5 points and 3.6 assists in his 16-year NBA career.
