Free-agent shooting guard Eric Gordon has reached agreement on a four-year, $53 million contract with the Houston Rockets, league sources told The Vertical.
Hours after securing a commitment on a four-year, $80 million deal with Ryan Anderson, Gordon met with Rockets officials in Southern California and soon he and his agent, Rob Pelinka, came to an agreement with Houston.
The Rockets are moving to reshape their roster and build around All-Star guard James Harden under new coach Mike D’Antoni.
Gordon and Anderson had been teammates with the New Orleans Pelicans. For Gordon, a history of knee problems has curtailed his durability and effectiveness, but several teams – including the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies – had confidence in the medical reports to make significant offers to Gordon.
Gordon averaged 15.2 points in 45 games for the Pelicans last season.
