Maryland guard Richaud Pack had people talking Friday during the NCAA tournament as the Terrapins played Valparaiso during the first round.
Pack dyed his hair blonde to honor his aunt, Paulette McClendon-Martin, who died suddenly recently. His aunt had blonde hair and Pack and his mother decided it would be a good way to show his appreciation for her with an entire nation of college basketball loving fans paying attention.
Pack wasn't alone in dying his hair. He told the Washington Times his two sisters and younger brother also dyed their hair and his mom was planning to join them. Pack credited his aunt for being in the glue in his family keeping them all together. He told the Times he spoke to his aunt regularly during his time at Maryland.
“You know, it’s family,” Pack told the Times. “I don’t know how to explain our relationship, but we were close.”
