Indiana’s season came to a disappointing end as No. 7 seed Wichita State took care of Tom Crean’s Hoosiers, a No. 10 seed, 81-76 in Omaha on Friday afternoon.
After the final buzzer sounded, Crean reportedly shared his disgust with the way the game was officiated. According to Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star, Crean “walked toward one referee and told him, ‘You suck.’"
Doyel wasn’t the only one to witness the incident. Dirk Chatelain of Omaha.com tweeted about it, identifying the official as Kipp Kissinger, who mainly works with the Big 12 and Missouri Valley Conference. Indiana was called for nine more fouls which led to Wichita State attempting 14 more free throws than the Hoosiers. This clearly led to some serious frustration for Crean and that frustration boiled over after the game. According to Doyel's account, Crean confronted Kissinger before he shook hands with the Wichita State players in coaches. Crean was clearly fuming.

For a program where expectations are sky-high, the loss signified the conclusion of another underwhelming season under Crean. Many Hoosiers fans have been clamoring for Crean's job all year long and they only gained more ammunition with an opening-round exit and a 20-14 record to end the season.
Despite the dissatisfaction among fans, Indiana athletic Fred Glass said two weeks ago that Crean’s job is safe.
"I'm bullish on Tom," Glass told ESPN. "He's done a really good job with these guys. He's a great coach. He has my full support. I have a great deal of confidence in Tom's body of work.”
We’ll see if Glass’ tune changes in the coming days.
