We have seen the future, and it's in South Korea, where 40,000 fans – yes, 40,000 – showed up last week to watch the League of Legends world championship inside a soccer stadium originally built for the 2002 World Cup. It had an opening ceremony, a crazy light show, and a massive stage, and the crowd was actively cheering for the home-country team Samsung White, which was pitted against Star Horn Royal Club. Professional video gaming has become a national pastime in South Korea, which is a little short of the sporting options in the United States. Mind you, professional gaming contests are growing in popularity in the states, just don't expect a World Series-sized crowd to show up just yet.
Joseph Randle has a new pastime, besides his alleged underwear theivery. He's now a proud endorser of MeUndies underwear. The brand reached out to Randle after his troubles with the law, hoping to make the best of a bad situation, and as a trade-off, $15,000 worth of underwear and clothing will be donated to children in need in the Dallas area. A nice gesture, but still a little weird considering how it all started.
And to end a crazy dash with a crazy moment, we go to the hardwood and the Adriatic League, where Blaz Mahkovic hit a shot that he couldn't hit again if he tried.
