MLB: Who Vegas Is Picking to Win the 2016 World Series

MLB: Who Vegas Is Picking to Win the 2016 World Series1. Chicago Cubs

Odds: 3-1

Through their first 30 games of the season, the Chicago Cubs have been the best team in the MLB. In fact, they’ve been so good that folks are beginning to look at them through a historical lens. And we have to admit, the numbers are quite staggering.
Aside from their 24-6 start to the 2016 season, the Cubbies, winners of seven in a row and 9-1 in their last 10 games, have a run differential of plus-102, hold the lowest team ERA (2.48) in the MLB, and also top the bigs in runs scored (184) and RBIs (173).
And, of course, we can’t forget about Chicago’s ace — and reigning NL Cy Young Award winner — Jake Arrieta; a man who’s somehow managed to take his dominance on the mound to a whole other level. Seriously, the guy is 6-0 on the year with a 1.13 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP. That’s as close to unhittable as we’ve ever seen.
It’s hard to imagine the Cubs keeping up this sort of tear throughout the entirety of the season. But we’ve been wrong before. Regardless, Vegas likes what it’s seeing from the team that resides on Chicago’s North Side. And we see the possibility of a curse finally being lifted.
