Ezekiel Elliott gets reminder from Ohio State teammate to pay up after signing deal with Cowboys

The Cowboys' first-round draft pick Ezekiel Elliott officially signed his contract with the team on Wednesday, a four-year, $24.9-million deal that might make former Cowboy DeMarco Murray jealous.
The NFL holds an annual rookie transitional program that warns the new professionals how to deal with all the many unexpected consequences of their brand new jobs. One of these topics usually is how to respond to long-lost friends and family members who suddenly come out of the woodwork after players sign these multi-million-dollar deals looking for a little financial help.
Sure enough, right after Elliott signed his deal there was someone asking him for money on Twitter. But it's not exactly what Elliott was probably expecting and likely not something the transitional program prepared him for this offseason.
Elliott's former Ohio State teammate Cardale Jones congratulated Elliott on Twitter after the Cowboys running back inked his deal. But the quarterback, who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills this year, also wanted to make sure that Elliott pays up on a debt from their college days. Elliott was willing to cough up the negligible change and the big deal had him feeling a little extra generous.

thanks brother. I got u plus interest.

Now the real question is, why did Elliott owe Jones the $5? Lost a bet on his favorite hockey team? Maybe Elliott borrowed $5 to get his crop top hemmed for the draft? We may never know, but hopefully Jones doesn't spend the $5 and interest all in one place.
