1948 - Bob Mathias, US, wins Decathlon at London Olympics.
1953 - Ted Williams returns to Red Sox from the military.
1960 - Pittburgh Steelers (NFL) beat Toronto Argonauts (CFL) 43-16 in Toronto.
1965 - David Robinson, Key West Florida, NBA center
(San Antonio Spurs, Olympic-gold-92) is born.
