That anger can be a dangerous thing, particularly when Harper fails to make contact. That was the case Wednesday after Harper was called out on strikes following a check swing.
Harper appeared to be upset that he wasn't able to get an appeal on the play. From that angle, though, it looked as if he may have broke the plane with his swing.
Either way, it wasn't a smart play for Harper. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied 5-5. Given Harper's offensive surge this year, the club will surely miss his bat the rest of the game.
While Harper has a bit of a reputation as a hot head, he doesn't actually lose his cool all that often.
Harper doesn't appear to make contact with the ump during his tirade, so it's unlikely he'll receive any type of suspension for his actions.
For now, he'll have to watch as his team attempts to win the game. Given how great Harper has been this season, that may be the biggest punishment here.
Next time, take out your anger during your next plate appearance, Bryce. You're too valuable to take yourself out of a game like this.
