1959 - Renaldo Nehemiah, US, hurdler (110m at 12.93)/NFLer (SF 49ers) is born.
1961 - NY Senate approves $55M for a baseball stadium at Flushing Meadows.
1962 - Benny Paret, KOed in a welterweight title, he dies 10 days later.
1973 - SF 49er president Lou Spadia proposes NFL expand to 30 teams.
1975 - Muhammad Ali TKOs Chuck Wepner in 15 rounds for Heavyweight boxing title.
1976 - Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos quarterback, is born.
