1932 - Horse racing legend Eddie Arcaro wins his first race.
1940 - Commissioner Kenesaw Landis gives free agency to 91 Detroit Tigers.
1943 - Alex Smart (Montreal) is first NHLer to score a hat trick in his first game.
1961 - Chicago Bear Willard Dewveall becomes first NFLer to join AFL.
1968 - Superbowl II: Green Bay Packers beat the Oakland Raiders, 33-14 in Miami
