Roger Goodell ‘really bothered’ by Matt Patricia’s clown shirt, report saysThe Patriots havebeen at a silent war against Roger Goodell in wake of the Deflategate saga, butMatt Patricia's t-shirt jab apparently hurt the NFL commissioner's feelings.
ThePatriots defensive coordinator was spotted wearinga T-shirt that showedthe NFL commissioner'sface witha clown nose as the team exited its plane at Logan Airport in Boston on Monday afternoon after returning home from an incredible Super Bowl win over the Falcons.
"The T-shirt really bothered [Goodell]," an NFL ownership source told CBS Sports. "The fact that Kraft didn't stop him from wearing that ticked some people off, but did they really think he's going to protect Goodell after all of this?"
While the Patriots ownership hasn't publicly spoken out against Goodell, New England fans booed Sunday night as he presented the Patriots with the Lombardi Trophy.
According to the CBS Sports report, the Patriots front office will continue to have a rough relationship withthe NFLuntil the league parts ways with general counsel Jeff Pash, who played a key role in the Ted Wells/NFL investigation intoDeflategate.
