Jamie Vardy scored a brace on his return from suspension, and Andy King had a goal and an assist as Leicester City cruised past Everton 3-1 at a jubilant King Power Stadium on Saturday.
Vardy attempted two penalty kicks, scoring one and skying the second over the bar for what would’ve been a hat trick. Kevin Mirllas ruined Kasper Schmeichel‘s clean sheet in the 88th minute.
The win gives Leicester a 10-point lead before Spurs hosts Saints on Sunday morning.
Everton’s 44 points are 12th, and this blowout won’t do much for Roberto Martinez’s status as Everton manager.
It took just five minutes for Leicester to match the pregame festivities, as Andy King sent in a ball that Vardy poked past Joel Robles to make it 1-0.
King doubled Leicester’s lead in the 33rd minute, first-touching a loose ball home after Leighton Baines tackled it away from Riyad Mahrez.

At times in the second half, this simply looked like Leicester toying with Everton; The Foxes were trying hard to get Christian Fuchs a goal while the Toffees looked barely interested in attacking.
Fuchs fired a free kick over the bar and then was denied by Robles when played through 1v1. Where was the heart from Everton?
Vardy then won and converted a penalty kick before missing a second chance from the spot given away by Darron Gibson.
