The Philadelphia 76ers acquired center Hasheem Thabeet and cash from the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources tell Yahoo Sports on Tuesday. Thabeet is also expected to be immediately waived.
Thabeet, the second overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2009 NBA draft, is making $1.25 million in the final year of his contract. The seldom-used 7-foot-3, 263-pounder averaged 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds last season with OKC and will become a free agent assuming he clears waivers.
The Thunder's roster is loaded with big men in Serge Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins, Steven Adams, Nick Collison and rookie Mitch McGary. The Thunder get a trade exception, which they have a year to use, and a 2015 protected second-round draft pick.
