1879 - US National Archery Association forms (Crawfordsville, Ind).
1944 - Detroit Red Wings score 15 goals against NY Rangers & NHL 
record 37 points, also most consecutive goals & most lopsided game 15-0.
1950 - AP picks "Miracle Braves" of 1914 as greatest sports upset.
1950 - NFL rule changes open way for 2-platoon system (offense & defense).
1953 - NFL Dallas Texans become Baltimore Colts (now Indianapolis Colts).
1962 - Bob Feller & Jackie Robinson elected to Baseball Hall of Fame.
1963 - Hakeem Olajuwon, NBA center (Houston Rockets) is born.
1967 - Stan Musial is named GM of Cards.
