1947 - Washington Redskin Sammy Baugh passes for 
6 touchdowns vs Chicago Cards (45-21).
1948 - Hack Wilson, Chicago Cubs, 1979 Hall of Famer inductee (b. 1900) dies 
of internal hemorrhaging suffered in a fall on October 4th.
1960 - Dodgers outfielder Frank Howard is voted NL Rookie of Year.
