1927 - The legendary Harlem Globetrotters play their first game.
1961 - First NFL Playoff Bowl (runner-up bowl)-Detroit beats Cleveland 17-16.
1972 - LA Lakers chalk up 33rd consecutive win (NBA record).
1980 - Minnesota ends the Philadelphia Flyers' NHL record 35 game unbeaten streak.
1982 - NY Islander's Bryan Trottier's captures his 10th career hat trick.
1985 - Lou Brock & Hoyt Wilhelm are elected to the Baseball's Hall of Fame.
1990 - Bronko Nagurski, born in 1908, dies on this day.
1990 - Joe Robbie, original owner of the Miami Dolphins dies at age 73.
1992 - Tom Seaver & Rollie Fingers are elected to the Baseball's Hall of Fame.
