San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen was carted off the field with an apparent injury to his right knee on Sunday, and it didn’t look like a minor one.
Allen was taken off the field with the Chargers leading the Kansas City Chiefs, 21-3. He was seen crying as the cart left the field before he was ruled out of the game.

In fact, this could be a season-ending injury, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Based on initial tests, #Chargers believe WR Keenan Allen has suffered a major knee injury. They suspect an ACL tear. Will have more tests

There’s no good time to get hurt, but it was fortunate that Allen signed a contract extension prior to the season. Allen signed a four-year, $45 million contract that could be worth as much as $49 million, and it included a $9.5 million signing bonus.
Allen, 24, missed the majority of the 2015 season with a lacerated kidney but entered this season healthy and appeared poised for big things.
