St. Louis Rams bench Nick Foles, go to Case Keenum at quarterback

Apparently, the St. Louis Rams failing to show up for so many games the past few years was the fault of quarterback Nick Foles.
After another performance in which the Rams looked totally unprepared, they benched Foles, who is in his first season with the team. They'll go with Case Keenum at quarterback, the team announced.
The huge Sam Bradford-for-Nick Foles trade looks to be kind of a dud for both teams, though at least the Rams got a second-round pick and didn't have to pay Bradford's huge salary this year. Foles has not played well, though that doesn't explain everything for the very disappointing 4-5 Rams. In a lackluster 37-14 loss at home to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Foles was 17 of 36 for 200 yards. Foles has just seven touchdowns and six interceptions this season. That's not good enough, though it's also hard to put everything on Foles. The Rams have had a few great wins this season and a few baffling losses, which has been the norm for them in the Jeff Fisher era.
Is Keenum better? He had flashes of success in 10 starts with the Houston Texans. He has a 76.8 career rating, so it's hard to imagine he totally turns the Rams around.
What makes this move even stranger is that the Rams gave Foles a two-year extension in August, before he ever started a game for them. The extension was worth a little more than $24 million with almost $14 million in guaranteed money, according to Spotrac.
Right now, the Rams just have a very highly paid backup. Maybe Keenum solves all the issues the Rams have had under Fisher, though that seems like a bit of a shot in the dark.
