Shane Vereen expected to sign three-year deal with Giants

(AP) Running back Shane Vereen is expected to sign a three-year deal with the New York Giants that will pay a little more than $4 million a season, a league source told Yahoo Sports.
In the Patriots' platoon backfield last season, Vereen rushed for 391 yards on 96 carries and caught 52 passes for 447 yards. His receiving skills were critical in New England's victory against the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, where he caught 11 passes for 64 yards.
Vereen was regarded in the mid-tier of free-agent running backs, behind the likes of DeMarco Murray, C.J. Spiller and Frank Gore. If he joins the Giants, Vereen gives New York depth in a backfield that also features Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams.
