1950 - First Major League baseball player to fight in Korea (Curt Simmons).
1952 - Nancy Lopez, professional golfer is born.
1957 - Glen Gorbous throws a baseball a record 136 m (445'10").
1959 - New Continental baseball league formed.
1962 - Boston Red Sox Bill Monboquette no-hits Chicago White Sox, 1-0.
1976 - Seattle Seahawks play 1st (preseason) game (SF 27, Seattle 20).

and died as a result of complications.
