1931 - Lou Gehrig hitless in Detroit, his 1,000th consecutively played game.
1934 - Rafer Lewis Johnson, Hillsboro Tx, decathlete (Olympic-gold-1960) is born.
1934 - Roberto Clemente, US baseball outfielder (Pittsburgh Pirates) is born.
1945 - Scheduled demonstrations at Polo Grounds & Ebbets Field
to end segregation in organized baseball are called off.
