Blackhawks, Bruins head into Game 6 without stars

In this photo taken June 22, 2013, Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews, bottom, takes a hit above the shoulders from Boston Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk during second period in Game 5 of the NHL hockey Stanley Cup Final in Chicago.  Patrice Bergeron may or may not be available for the Bruins in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, but Claude Julien is keeping that a scret.  Toews' status for the Blackhawks might be a little clearer.  Julien called Bergeron day-to-day with a "body" injury and added that his status was "really good news."

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville says he hopes forward Jonathan Toews will be able to play in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals against the Boston Bruins. Toews did not play in the third period of Chicago's 3-1 victory over Boston in Game 5 on Saturday night. The team has not said what the injury is. But Quenneville said after arriving in Boston on Sunday that Toews is doing better. Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk was not given a penalty on the hit that injured Toews. NHL spokesman John Dellapina says the league has reviewed the hit and there will be no supplemental discipline.

Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron is day-to-day after being injured in the Stanley Cup finals against the Chicago Blackhawks. Coach Claude Julien said he hopes his star center will be able to play in Game 6 on Monday night. Asked if it was an upper or lower body injury, Julien said, ''body.'' Bergeron was discharged from a Chicago hospital and flew home with the team Sunday morning. He got off the team bus at the TD Garden, went straight to his car and was driven away. Bergeron was injured in the second period of Saturday night's 3-1 loss. Chicago leads the series 3-2 heading into Game 6 in Boston on Monday night.
