1933 - The Chicago Bears 30 game unbeaten streak ends to the New England Patriots, 10-0.
1940 - Walter Johnson, won 416 games for the Washington Senators, but loses the Maryland Republican congressional race.
1950 - Cleveland Browns' Tommy James intercepts 3 passes while collecting a club record.
1955 - Montreal Canadiens' Jean Beliveau scores the second fastest hat trick at 44 seconds.
1966 - Brigham Young Quarterback Virgil Carter sets an NCAA record with 599 yards gained.
1971 - NBA's Los Angeles Lakers begin their 33 game consecutive victory streak.
1978 - Oakland Raider's John Madden becomes 13th coach to win 100 NFL games.
1988 - The first NBA games are played at the Miami Arena - Heat lose to LA Clippers 111-91 along with the first game the Palace of Auburn Hills - Pistons beat Charlotte Hornets 94-85.
1995 - George Foreman beats Michael Moorer to win the WBA/IBF boxing title.
1996 - New York Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter is the unanimous choice as AL Rookie of the Year.
